My Heart Goes Printer-Patter

I wore this on Sunday. In these last days of summer I want to get the most out of the pieces that soon will have to be put away as colder temps set in. This skirt is one of my favorite pieces I own...so summery, so breezy...

I absolutely adore this print. And I adore vintage circle skirts. This is what we call a win-win people.
How dope is this print ya'll??

This was an impromptu shoot of this outfit, hence the lack of pics, but it was suggested that I post it so bam! Here it is. I paired this simple racer-back tank with the skirt because I wanted the print to do all of the talking.

The weather and winding down of summer really made me want to wear this. I felt it was fitting. Isn't it interesting how our environment can influence us? Our wardrobe choices, our feelings, or our choices in general? What are your thoughts on the matter?

Gray Matter

So, this doesn't actually have much to do with biology, but grey matter does include regions of the brain involved in seeing, memory, emotions and speech (thank you Wikipedia) so it somewhat applies, right? Let's pretend I titled this post "Gray Matter" because of that, and not simply because I'm wearing gray in a gray setting. Deal? Fantastic!

I was feeling pretty laid back the other day, not to mention my hair wasn't all the way behaving (hence the scarf). Apparently laid back, for me, involves 4+ inch heels, but I suppose it means something a little different for everyone. I don't always enjoy patent leather, but the colors of these shoes spoke to me.
Laid back, lounging on a pole in front of stuff.

What does your laid-back look like?

This is what my "laid-back" looks like when my photographer from that night (my mother) and I get together. Clearly she's just as random as  I am as this was her idea. Good times.

Color Me Awesome

You know...like 90's super group Color Me Badd? No? Ok. (Btw...2 cool points for anyone who can tell me why "Badd" had two D's). I was in the mood for something fun and colorful. I had this purple skirt that I bought, even though I didn't have anywhere to wear it. Then I had an epiphany and thought, "I know the perfect place to wear it! Outside! Eureka!" (Does anyone remember Eureka's Castle? Apparently I'm nostalgic today).

I love how the bold colors pop against each other. I dressed the skirt down a bit with random snake-print gladiator sandals.
Something was apparently funny. Laugh with me, won't you?

The accessories were slightly random as well, but I enjoy some randomness. Like the randomness of wearing a neon tank with a beautious (yes, beautious) skirt. Somehow it all somehow works, right? RIGHT?? While I wouldn't wear a full on formal gown to go, say, grocery shopping (..or would I??), why "save" the fun clothes or favorite pieces for something we deem a special occasion? Why can't everyday be special? Discuss.

Dressing Up My Insides

Ok, that title sounds slightly gross. I promise the following is not. Unless you think clothes, walls, floors, or anything in the below picture is gross. In that case, avert your eyes (also, that's totally weird). I hit a dinner the other night with some of the most wonderful women I know. I decided to do engage in some slightly funk-a-fied dressing up...

I was in the company of many extroverted, self-assured women. I tend to be an introvert, so I find in these situations I like to put on something that makes me feel a little different and helps me stand out. I guess sometimes I dress the opposite of how I feel.

By this point in the evening my top-knot decided to un-knot itself...
Am I the only one who does this? Do you find yourself putting together looks, wanting to counteract what you're feeling? Do you, too, enjoy a good top-knot? Am I asking too many questions????

I thought the super classic style of the skirt played nicely against the super bright bandeau and shoes. Updated and classic all at the same time. Multi-tasking outfit awesomeness.

Keepin' it Simple and Whatnot

Sometimes I get too caught up in an outfit. While being intricate can be fun, sometimes the desire to create something interesting or complicated gets in the way of just being. And, some days, just being is all that is necessary.

Sun + random pose = Happy!

Just a simple white t-shirt with wide-leg jeans and a belt (that is actually a scarf.) Simple and chic. See things don't always have to be complicated!

Ding Dong (those are wedding bells)

Recently one of my line sisters got married, so I had to find something wedding suitable. I also felt the need to slightly awkwardly pose in it next to a huge storage bin. It was the perfect look for a hot day.
