Envision: Artopia 2012

Hope your Monday was a fun day party peeps! This weekend I attended Envnvision: Artopia - the largest semi-annual fashion show in the Twin Cities. Held at the Graves 601 Hotel (which is a pretty swanky place), Envision featured 9 local designers, 7 jewelry boutiques and designers, and styling by Prima Chic and Erick DeLeon of Modern Day Dapper. It was hosted by the super cool Joan Erakit of The Brown Girl Files

A joint effort between V2, Ignite Models, and City Pages produced the fete  with appearances by some other fantastic folks - one of whom was (and if you follow this blog, you know how much I love these people): Aldo.

They had a table full of goodies from their Rise collection, which is an amalgam of edgy designs for those of you who like to wear something above and beyond your run-of-the-mill heel. I even got to say hey to the Aldo crew...one of whom recognized me because I'm in the store so much. I should be ashamed. I'm not.
Fashionable Aldo crew. Hey ya'll!

For my fashion show look - I went with a little bit of sparkle. It was around-the-way-girl meets downtown summer glam. I just made that up, I don't really know what it was, but I was feeling the summer vibe with a white blazer and shorts. To glam it up for a night out, I rocked a sequin pair. For a little added fun I threw on my graffiti heels, gold hoops and finished it off with bright lips and nails.

I didn't get a good pic of the footwear, but hear is general pic.

As for the show itself, it unfolded in two parts: a 30 minute show, a break, and then another show. It was like two shows in one, and I don't know about you, but I enjoy 2 for 1's! *

I appreciated the relationship between fashion and art - as there were mini exhibitions present at the show from some incredibly talented artists . This installment was pretty low key in terms of the venue, format, and some of the looks. I would have liked the looks to be a little more daring - but still a must-attend MN fashion event!

Here are some of my favorite looks from the shows:

  1. I like Caroline Hayden's look!!

I have been wanting a white blazer since I had wanted to be an attorney (but fashionable haha). I still want one and even more so now that it is summer.

I would like to have an ivory blazer too.... but if I had to pick, I would pick ivory... but that is so hard to find.

  2. Great photos of this event! I saw Lindsey's photos too - you look super cute in those shorts!

My favorite look on the runway is the Counter Couture skirt and top - a very classy look and I love the colors. I'd totally wear it.
