Salsa Dancing, Street-wear, and Studiiyo23

If you know me, you know I’m super big on sports. If you know me, you also know that was a huge lie. Don’t get me wrong, I like sports! I just know somewhere between "very little" and "mostly nothing" about them. Though I was a (moderately good) track (not really) star in high school and I did run collegiate track for one day. Literally one day. That’s a great (embarrassing) story.  But I killed at my 5th grade "field day" track meet. I beat all of errybody – and no one can take that away from me!

I digress – Since then I’ve traded in my track spikes for salsa shoes.  People always tell me they’re interested in learning a little salsa  – they just don’t know where to start. Never fear my friends – I’ve got your answer. Keep reading…

Just as you enter Uptown there is a dope little spot called Studiiyo23 where urban fashion, art, culture and Jordan’s galore meet. If you are a sneakerhead, baller, basketball lover, or a Jordan fanatic - an artist, a creative, or an appreciator of urban culture  – this is the place for you. I love the shop because it is a mash-up of a bunch of really cool stuff.  There’s always dope music coming through the speakers from hip hop to Michael Jackson, always fresh gear from well-known brands to local names in street-wear, always new art from Mpls artists, and always a chill vibe. On top of all that, I’m a sucker for good design, and the space is beautiful – take a look below:

"The Treehouse" - I love the smell in here. Wood and new shoes...ahhhhh

Now for the good news: July 10th from 8-9 I will be teaching a salsa class in this fantastic space. Come learn basic salsa foundations in this art-centric, urban space. Registration is limited to the first 14 people who sign up/register! So get to it! Click Here to find out how!

It's all about "la salsa"...not so much the "cocinando"...I'm not good at that...

I am contrasting the space with some girly festivness, but still keeping a bit of a street-wear edge with the tee and sneaks. I love mixing street-wear and urban fashion with feminine details.

Inspiration ...

So there you have it - an awesome space and an opportunity to get your salsa lernin' on! Don't forget to register early and I will see you on July 10th at 8p.m.!

Look, I'm being sporty! I did shoot the ball shortly after this - I definitely did not make it. But I was close - I like to call that a "half-pointer"

Have you ever wanted to learn Salsa? If not, what's something you have been meaning to learn?
