Emergency Foodshelf Network 12-13-2011
The Fresh Factor had an opportunity to volunteer at the Emergency Foodshelf Network, and it was great! EFN is a local, independent food bank, providing quality, nutritious food and support services to over 200 hunger relief partners.
We helped pack food for their Fare For All program, one of the many great things they do for the community. “Fare For All is a great way to save money on quality nutritious food. We buy fruits, vegetables, and frozen meats in bulk to save you up to 40% off grocery store prices. We select the best food from our shipments, pre-packaging it to give you the greatest deals. Fare For All is community supported and open to everyone.”
Believe me when I say we had a great time.We packed 189 boxes – enough food to serve 1,323 people! A great cause and a great team, thanks to everyone who came out to volunteer and thank you to Sarah and the EFN for having us!
Goodwill-Easter Seals 10-15-2011
October 15th was the first Fashion Forward Event. We volunteered with the Goodwill/Easter Seals, doing some organizing for the bridal event they have in February every year. We organized over 100 wedding, bridesmaid, flower girl, and mother of the bride, and special occasion dresses that will be sold at the event, all for extremely affordable prices – some as low as $99!
These were not cheap or dirty dresses ya’ll. Many are new w/ tags, bridal store samples, and some gently used. There are a whole bunch of brand new designer dresses (definitely saw some Vera Wang!) and many of them were donated from Macy’s. These dresses are the real deal!
The Volunteer Crew Note: I’m not really that short – it’s just the camera angle…errr…something
It was definitely hard work, but totally worth it. Wedding dresses are heavy! Lifting them is quite the work out. I’m pretty sure I’m got all kinds of muscles because if it. If you would like more info, contact the Goodwill! A huge thanks to Faith O. Folayan of Urbane Montage for collaborating with this event!
